Q: Do you think that the new 2011 Sienna (scheduled to arrive in dealerships in February) will be without faults?
I have been planning to purchase the new Sienna since it was announced last year. Now I am having second thoughts of buying this minivan for my family being that they are having so many problems with their brakes. Upon research, I haven’t found any articles regarding what they are doing to make sure that these new vehicles are without fault.

A: No the brakes are only problem in the Prius…..Sienna will have different pedals

don’t worry about the recalls, they should not affect the future cars.

Q: Do you think that the braking system will be up-to-date on the 2011 Sienna?
I have asked this question before but didn’t get a clear answer. I would really like to get rid of my SUV and get my wife and kids into a new minivan. I love all of the features that the new Sienna has to offer, but wouldn’t feel right putting my kids in this if I knew that the braking system could fail. Does anyone have any insight into this issue?

A: You can bet that the new 2011 Sienna will be as riddled with as much bad drive by wire technology as the 2010’s are. The Sienna has to have been in production just as all the other recalls were coming out, so there is no reason to believe that the new 2011 Sienna will have anything less than what the other troubled Toyotas have unfortunately. If it does not have a brake override installed on it, then it will be prone to electronic failure as well. Toyota has silently gone high teck on everything without telling anyone, and they have not installed proper brake override processors which kick in, in the event of a technical failure. …Steering on Corollas?..transmissions on camrys clunking?..drive shafts now just reported falling off new 2010 Toyota Tacoma trucks causing possible catastrophe?…these are issues you must wrestle with when buying a new and untested Sienna. Don’t expect a clear answer on it from Toyota. But my best guess is that it would be far safer to WAIT to buy that Sienna. Never in history has a car company been so totally beseiged with quality issues. Even the new fix put out for the recent Toyotas braking will only stop the peddle from sticking…but if the electronic drive by wire processor fails, there is at present no brake override to stop these cars from accelerating in to disaster again. I can’t imagine that the new Siennas are built any differently from any other new Toyota. So please be careful with making your decision. I fully intended to buy a new 2011 Toyota Sienna before all this recall trouble. The chances of that for me now…are presently at 0%. Wait and see is all I can say. Wait and see…It is hard to see a once great company fall…but we may presently be seeing this in the process at the moment. Good luck.

Q: can you get the 8th seat with the new lounge seats on the 2011 sienna ?
On their website, Toyota advertises the Lounge seats and the removable 2nd row middle seat. I was wondering whether you can get both features together.

A: Yes, the Lounge seats are removable. The only thing that you can not get are the Lounge seats and 8 passengers together. Sienna 2011 are in stock at some dealers. You can check out yourself.

Just for additional info. My wife & I checked out the 2011 Sienna yesterday. It is a very beautiful new design outside and inside, there are lot of new high tech features added to this new vehicle, such as keyless start engine and review camera…etc. HOWEVER, there are a few issues that we decided not to buy this newly redesign vehicle.

First, the CENTER CONSOLE is fix (not removable) what that mean is that after you got in your car and buckle up your kids for 2nd row or third row, you have will not be able to access to either driver side or passenger side because of blocked fix center console. (unlike the older model it is removable)

Second issue, the 8 seat removable, after you remove this seat, there is a pretty big fix console(that is not flat to the floor) in between 2 captain chairs, this would not be safe for small children to access between 2 row and the 3rd row.

We do not like the idea of after you got in the car and buckle up our kids, then we have to got out of the car to access to the driver or passeger side because of this stupid fix center console.

Lastly, this new redesign 2011 only have total of 3 techer anchors for child carseat. Two in the 2nd row and ONLY ONE in the third row.(should have 2 anchors in 3rd row) what if you want the option to have 2 kids seating in the 3 row instead of 2 row.

We decided to pass on this newly redesign models. But overall, it is a very beautiful model. Lots of high tech gagets.

Q: Will the newly designed 2011 Toyota Sienna look better than the present rounded refridgerator on wheels?
I’ve wanted a Sienna for years, and am waiting for a new design because I simply won’t be seen in that ugly thing. Honda Odyssey, and Chrysler and Dodge mini vans at least have some lines and look like a normal mini van. The Sienna however seems to suffer from a line-less dome like unshapen contour. Will Toyota catch up to the others? Or will it be more of the same. If it is I’ll just go for the Honda. thanks.

A: I’ve been trying to track the 2011 Sienna also. There is not much information on the Internet about it; one site claims that it will be a redesign, but that the basic external contour will remain similar to the 2010 version. That site also claims that production will begin in January of 2010, and another site says first quarter of 2010. The sales manager in my local dealer said Toyota has not yet made an actual deicision on whether to go with a redesign for 2011 or to retain the 2009/2010 version. He also told me that production would not begin until next spring or summer. There are some “spy photos” on the Internet showing heavily camouflaged developmental versions of a 2011 Sienna, but you can’t see very much.

For myself, internals are more important than the external shape. I’m most concerned about the Nav system. I’ve seen comments from owners of the 2010 model indicating that they hate the Nav system, especially its inhibition on reprogramming it while the car is in motion. Toyota saw fit to disable this capability, despite the fact that the front passenger can manipulate the Nav while the driver is driving the car. Owners have been desperately looking for workarounds to circumvent the disablement of reprogramming, exchanging disks with new versions of the control software, I think. People have also complained that it’s hard to use, and provides bad errors in current location at times.

The existing Nav system also does not have real time traffic, which is a show stopper for me, and does not have an integrated rear view TV camera (this is an extra cost option), also very annoying. The current Sienna also does not have a factory-installed satellite radio option, but the factory radio is “Sirius Capable,” terribly old technology. The Navigation/Entertainment package very badly needs updating, especially as compared with Ford’s fantastic Navigation/Entertainment system (which even has local gas prices, movie listings, and real time animated weather radar!), but also as compared with Toyota’s own Prius Navigation system, which does have real time traffic. It’s so ridiculous for Toyota to have a good Navigation system in some of its products but not in others. I would buy a Sienna today if it were not for this factor.

My other fear about the 2011 Sienna, if it is a redesign, is that Toyota might mess up things that are really good about the current model. In particular, the current Sienna’s instrument cluster has a beautiful blue light for illumination, and I’m red-green color blind; blue is one of my few good colors. So if they change the lighting to something I can’t see, it would greatly discourage me from buying this car.

Another thing I’d like to see is a left-hand arm rest for the driver’s seat. There is a right-hand arm rest, but I need both sides due to a bad back. I don’t understand why the mid- passenger seats have arm rests on both sides but the driver’s seat has it only on the right side. I might have to take the car to Seatco and pay for them to custom-fabricate a left hand arm rest, possibly mounted on the inside door panel rather than the seat itself, an inconvenient and expensive kluge.

I would caution you about switching to the Odyssey. I own a 2000 Odyssey, and although it’s the best car I’ve ever owned in terms of reliability and longevity, it has some other negative characteristics that are show stoppers, at least for me, in buying another one. The ride is harsh, and there’s lots of wind and road noise inside the cabin. This drives me crazy in my current car, and I’ve had it for ten years now. I think it’s ridiculous for Honda not to have fixed this in all this time. I absolutely will not buy another noisy van. Also the power assist for the power steering in my Odyssey is very weak, and you really have to tug on the wheel to turn it, which I also hate. I don’t know how bad the current Odyssey is on that factor. But I’ve also seen severe criticism from owners of the current Odyssey about its Navigation system…. go to Edmunds.com and see what owners are saying about both vehicles.

Q: 2011 Toyota sienna or 2011 Honda Odyssey?
Should I buy 2011 Sienna Limited now or wait for 2011 Honda Odyssey this summer?

A: ^^^

Hahahaha Buy the Sienna

Piss off Alan up there he think you have to be a woman to buy a Sienna. (OH LOOK HE’S GONNA REPORT ME LIKE A WOMAN)

hahahahhaahhahaha….

Q: It’s here!! What do you think of the brand new, completely redesigned, 2011 Toyota Sienna Minivan?..?
Check it out here, pic included…http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/02/la-2009-2011-toyota-sienna-could-wear-a-lexus-badge/ Do you like how it looks?

A: I like it :) pretty kool, look like it was redesigned from the previous gen Sienna. In my eye, the headlights look like 07 Camry’s, front bumper are from Aurion TRD, grill from Venza, dashboard got the same style of RX 350, tailights are mix from 2nd gen Harrier and Venza . Overall it is a piece of art !! ((^.^)/)

Q: Difference in seating between 2011 Sienna LE 7-passenger and XLE 7-passenger?
I was looking at Toyota.com and looked at the pictures between the 2011 Sienna LE and XLE (both AWD) and I notice that the compartment in the middle of the driver and co-pilot disappear in the XLE model. What happened to it? Also the extra seat in the second row also disappears in the XLE, where did it go?

A: they took it out to make room up the middle, and the extra second row seat is gone because the other two are full reclining.

Q: Should i buy 2011 toyota sienna even after toyota mess?
I need your openion about buying 2011 toyota sienna. i am in urgent need of minivan and left with 2 options. Sienna or odyssey. Toyotas 2011 model is in market and i test drive it and liked it but my heart goes for honda odyssey( i own honda civic and its best car i drove so far) 2011 Odyssey`s remodeled launch is in fall. Can`t wait that long so thinking to go for sienna?

does anybody buy 2011 sienna? how was their experience? should i trust toyota even after all this recall and safety problem?

A: Ford is making better quality and value than Toyota or Honda. Next best value Honda

Q: Toyota sienna 2011 Van?
Which 2011 siennas come with the 16 inch TV??
What package is the TV?
What package is the TV?

A: They all come with the 16″ TV it for an additional cost.

They have also all been recalled due to spare tire cables rusting in half making the spare tire fall off and killing a following motorist.

Q: Just looked inside a new 2011 Toyota Sienna. WHAT HAPPENED? The whole dashboard is junk plastic. What happened?
I thought Toyota is supposed to be trying to increase its quality, to make up for poor safety issues. If the new 2011 Sienna is any indicator, they might as well close shop and go back to Japan…the dash is—well, you’d have to see it to believe it. The steering is all cheapened to electronics, and I think everything else is too like the Camry electronic brakes. I really wanted one till I go in it. WHAT HAPPENED TO TOYOTA’S QUALITY??
Gee…Patel….Are you by any chance Republican…LOL! Get a life.

A: *********NEWS FLASH**********
Toyota has been cutting corners for years now and the American public has just been woken up to the Toyota Quality Propaganda!

Q: The 2011 Toyota Sienna?
I am planning to buy a 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE. I was wondering if they would change my Speedometer from Miles to KM? Would they also change the temperature readings to celsius? (I would be willing to pay for them to change these thingss). (I am importing).
Thanks

A: Wow! Sounds expensive to ship overseas but yes I do know people who did so when I served in the US military overseas.

If I were in your shoes, I believe Your Best Bet is to shop and buy new Toyota Sienna XLE in Canada only because Canada uses metric system on their roads, when buying gasoline etc. Of course you should doublecheck to confirm my hunch/guess…

Hope the Above Info Helps and Yes the restyling is Great!

Q: When will the new 2011 Toyota Sienna’s come to Canadian Dealerships?
i live in toronto

A: They are currently holding off on it until the breaking problems are fixed.

Q: is there a drive car show for 2011 prius?
I saw a ads for a car show for 2011 sienna, will it be anything like that for other toyota cars?

A: There have been events for the Prius in the past. However, traditionally the next year’s Prius doesn’t come out till after the August factory holidays.

Q: What is your take on the new 2011 Toyota Sienna’s cheap, poor grade dash plastic? Why does toyota do this?
Looking at the all new redesigned 2011 Toyota Sienna, I noticed that the new design was very nice, and it is quite freshened up form the 2010 models– but I was left aghast at the horrifically cheap, hard, scratchy, bare unpadded dashboard, which looks nice from a distance, until you get behind the wheel. It is similar to the Venza dash, but is completely hard and unpadded much like Chrysler’s cheap interiors. Seeing it close up and touching it with your fingers or nails produces a hollow scratchy, very cheap tactile appearance and feel, and this plastic seems to permeate much of the interior of this $26,000 to $38,000 minivan. I am wondering what the logic of this is, since Toyota put so much redesign work into it with the hopes that it would compete favorably with the Honda Odyssey. Admittedly, minivan owners don’t get much in the way of class and style because of the vehicle type itself. And so the appearance of the interior is especially important. Why would Toyota put such repulsive plastic all over the dash board? I am simply amazed, and very discouraged, as I had hoped to buy one. But I couldn’t stand looking at all this cheap plastic for the next ten years! Can anyone recommend a minivan with higher quality interiors to that which has now become so typical of Toyota? …Thanks.

A: Frankly, I think the general public has overrated all Toyotas. They are not the product they used to be when they produce engines with double roller timing chains. I would rather get a Honda. Heck I’d buy a Dodge Caravan before I bought a Toyota Sienna. My dad drove a Dodge caravan as a work van for his business. He got over 400,000 miles out of it. The engine got rebuilt once and the AC was fixed once too. Oh, and it never was involved in a recall. It was an 88 caravan 3.0 V6. The original transmission never needed rebuilding either. He gave the van away to a close friend simply because he was tired of it.

Q: The 2011 Sienna has what appear to look like..christmas tree lights for tail lamps. Is this cheap or what?
ok the new Sienna, $33,000 the one I am looking at, its an XLE w leather etc. Anyway, the tail lights have what look like “strings of cheap red led lights–dozens of them, crammed into each tail in rows, like you would see dangling on a window at christmas time. They have no depth and look exceedingly cheap. (Perhaps to match the interior finishes?) But I don’t want christmas tree twinkle lights in the tail lamps…I want real lights….Do you think Toyota could order real tail lamps for me so I don’t have to be seen with thoseTwinkiesinkie lights in the rear? I’ll just live with the scratchy plastic dash and door sides and panels if I have to, unless Honda comes out with something with more quality levels. Or should I buy American instead?

A: Actually, minivans are far more practical than any other vehicle their size, even the crossover SUV’s, which are marketed to replace minivans. Minivans get far better gas mileage than a Suburban or Sequoia sized SUV, and the sliding doors are very practical for families.

The taillights are LED lights. The’re actually quite expensive compared to standard lights. And they are shown to be slightly safer at night for other drivers (brighter and more contrasting to the actual vehicle).

I doubt that you can order different tail lamps yet for such a new car. I’d give it a year before any after market companies come out with tail lights. And most don’t even make minivan parts.

So, for a while at least, it looks like the taillights are there to stay.

I would suggest looking at the Chrysler Town & Country if you must get a minivan. Or the Buick Enclave or Ford Flex if you would like a crossover SUV.
