Q: Why dose a toyota camry hybrid cost more that prius. you get better gas mileage in the prius (2010 50mpg)?
2010-toyota camry hybrid 34mpg
2010-toyota prius 50mpg
is there really a difference and if so what?

A: What makes you think that price should be determined based on mileage alone? Following that logic, a Prius should cost more than a Ferrari too. (Hint: It doesn’t. You could buy a fleet of eight (or more!) Prius for the price of the cheapest new Ferrari (which gets a whopping 13mpg) that I could find.)

Camry is larger, it’s a sedan (some people prefer that over the Prius hatchback), it has more power (not that anybody driving only on public roads needs it), and the bottom line: Toyota feels that the market will pay more for it, so they price it accordingly.

Q: Is it smart to buy a 2010 Toyota Prius?
I’m a first time car buyer in New Orleans, LA.
I’m 22 years old and I was wondering if purchasing the 2010 Toyota Prius would be a good move instead of a Toyota Corolla.

A: Yes it’s smart to buy a 2010 Toyota Prius.

However, it’s not smart to listen to 75% of the answers that you get when you ask Prius questions at Yahoo! Answers. Many people that answer these questions are not knowledgeable about the Prius, and they simply repeat the misinformation that they have heard from other uninformed people.

In no particular order, regarding the answers you’ve received so far…

No, the VW Jetta TDI does not get better mileage. See http://fueleconomy.gov/ for details. So much for common knowledge, DUH.

The Corolla is a better deal only if you are strictly going for low price; the Prius is more expensive but it also has a much higher level of standard equipment. The price difference isn’t so large if you add all the options to the Corolla to get it closer to the Prius standard equipment, and at that point, the amount of city and highway driving you do won’t matter.

Prius vs. Corolla XRS: Nothing to discuss there, that’s just a matter of personal preference.

And once again, the rumor that the 2010 Prius will use Lithium-Ion batteries is simply incorrect. It will be using nickel metal hydride, the same that the Prius has been using since introduction in the 1998 model year (in Japan only). Toyota has been improving the batteries during that time, but they are still NiMH.

Q: Just how good is the new 2010 Toyota Prius? And is it out yet like in the dealerships?
Dad is going to buy the new Toyota Prius that I recommended him because he likes Japanese cars and quietness and comfort. Prius owners, please tell me about your experience with this prized car that gets 50mpg.

A: I have a 2005 Prius and I love it. It is fun to drive and gets me about 45 mph (which is why I bought it). I am a big beautiful woman and I fit very comfortably as does my 6′6″ man friend! I also often carry a child in the backseat in a car seat and he never complains! There are so many extras but the 2010 is just mind blowing w all the extras! I want one! They are available in the dealerships now (as an owner I get updates and just got one 2 days ago that they are available at my dealership).
You can purchase the package that has this cool sensor and steering combo that can practically parallel park itself! I can haul stuff w the seats down in back or I can cover what I am carrying w the shade in back.
It is very, very quiet…lol…once I left the car on for 6 hours while I did something else. I had forgotten to lock it and hadn’t turned it off because I didn’t hear it running! It didn’t use any gas during that time and the battery wasn’t drained either! It has a mechanism built in to the auto-lock so you can’t lock it running though. But the 2010 has a special thingy that allows you to start it from outside the car while locked so that it can warm up or cool off for you! Plus it has a solar powered cooling system that you can set to keep the car from getting hot on hot days.
The only thing I don’t like is the stupid spoiler on the back that limits rear vision and is made of plastic so ppl are tempted to push on it to close the back end and it breaks.
The 2010 though has a back-up camera and better mirrors so you can see all around the car…way cool.
I want one.
Did I say, I want one?
Well, I do.

Q: How hard is it going to be to get a 2010 Toyota Prius?
I’m going to be looking or, hopefully, looking into one of these cars by next year. Is it going to be difficult to obtain one come next year?

A: HARD TO SAY WITH THE SAGGING ECONOMY. WITH GM AND CHRYSLER IN TROUBLE, THE PRIUS MAY VERY WELL GO WAY UP IN SALES!!!! THEY WILL BE QUITE EXPENSIVE, BUT MORE PEOPLE JUST MAY BUY AND FINANCE THEM IN THE FUTURE. AND IN MY EXPERIENCE WITH CARS, TOYOTAS OUTLAST THE GM’S AND CHRYSLERS!!!!ONLY TIME WILL TELL!!!!!

Q: What is the difference in the 2010 Toyota Prius II, III, IV, and V?
Why is the price different?

http://autos.yahoo.com/2010_toyota_prius/

A: Per Toyota, Prius II has smartkey, star-safety system, EV/ECO/PWR modes, new touch-tracer display, enhanced multi-information display, 4-wheel disc brakes, and improved driver seating with height adjustment and telescoping steering wheel to name a few.

Prius III – Prius II plus JBL audio, bluetooth phone, integrated satellite radio.

Prius IV – Prius III plus leather seats, heated front seats.

Prius V – Prius IV plus 17″ alloy wheels, LED headlamps and fog lamps.

Prius III and IV are the only models available with the solar roof package keep in mind.

Hope this helps.

Q: What’s the Difference between the 2010 Toyota Prius Packages?
I live in Spain and it has three options;

Eco
Advance
Executive

I can’t find it on their website.

A: crap crap and more crap, prius are p.o.s’

Q: Would anyone like to give me a free 2010 Toyota Prius seriously?
Have you ever known anyone who just gave someone a free car who they didn’t know, that was in good working condition?

A: Ask Oprah

Q: should I purchase a prius 2010 Toyota Prius 5dr HB II?
I saw the price online it says $20495 and the milege seems pretty nice.

A: Very good price. Like the other guy said get it inspected by a Toyota dealer. The guy talking about these getting in on ramp accidents is lying. Seems a lot of people think they are slow. I drive these everyday. Just as fast as an other 4 cylinder family sedan.

Q: 2010 Toyota Prius “Harmony” TV Commercial whats the name for that song/artist name(go to youtube and type that?
just go to www.youtube.com and type in

2010 Toyota Prius “Harmony” TV Commercial

it’s the 2nd one not the one hilighted in yellow its the one below that!

A: The artist name is Petra Haden http://velvetgazebo.blogspot.com/2009/05/petra-haden-and-new-prius-commercials.html

Q: Finance Deal for the 2010 Toyota Prius?
Is it possible to get a good finance deal on the 2010 Toyota Prius? I have been tracking it and they only have lease deals. Since they recently had the recalls, I might think they would do that. I live in the zip code 92064.

A: Do yourself a favor and put this on hold for a few days.

If you have good credit and a low debt/income ratio, rumour has it that Toyota is going to be offering rebates, free maintenance for 2 years AND 0% financing for 5 years on many of its top-sellers.
The Prius may be on that list.

I would not worry about the recall, at this point. Toyota was unethical, but they aren’t stupid. Another mishap like the one that happened would destroy the company in the US market.

Q: Is the new 2010 Toyota Prius good?
My dad is thinking of buying a new car because I took his old one and I recommended him the new Toyota Prius because he likes quiet and comfortable rides, and loves JBL. Also I have never been in a hybrid and I heard it’s amazing, so I want to experience it. Has it much improved from the previous model? If you have had any experience with the old and/or new one, please give me your opinion.

A: I have a 2007 Prius and would really like to have the third generation 2010.
My 2007 is a wonderful car that is extemely inexpensive to maintain and I average over 50 mpg in the summer months.

You probably already know this, but the base Prius costs over $3,000 less than the base Jetta TDI.

I disagree with the statement that insurance is more expensive on Hybrid’s.
The insurance on my 2007 Prius is less expensive than my wife’s insurance on her 2007 Mazda 3-i touring and we are on the same policy.

Q: Solar Panels in the 2010 Toyota Prius?
Why does the new 2010 Toyota Prius have solar panels at the top of the vehicle?

A: To quote Toyota:
“The Solar Powered Ventilation System uses an electric fan to draw outside air into, through, and out of the cabin once the inside temperature reaches 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It will lower the cabin temperature to near the outside ambient temperature to help make the cabin more comfortable when reentering the vehicle. It must be turned on prior to leaving the vehicle and cannot perform cooling such as with an air conditioner.”

http://www.toyota.com/disclaimers/prius_ventilation.html

More info about the solar-powered ventilation system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CchHIy7JgvA&feature=PlayList&p=216B6614C99927A4&index=3

Which is built into the available power tilt/slide moonroof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pcSxWiunDo&feature=PlayList&p=216B6614C99927A4&index=32
Which is also bundled with the Remote Air conditioning system.

It is an available option, that isn’t on all ZVW30 Prius (2010 model). In the US, it can only be added as a package (Solar Roof Navigation (SR), MSRP $3600) to the level III or IV optioned Prius. (What is available in your actual Toyota region will vary.) http://www.toyota.com/prius-hybrid/options.html

Essentially: The solar panel powers the fan in the solar-powered ventilation system. The ventilation system helps to keep your car cool while parked out in the sun. If your car is cooler, then when you get into it after parking somewhere the AC won’t have to work quite so hard to get you comfy when you start your car. Less AC use means less hybrid battery use (since the hybrid battery powers the AC), which means that your gasoline engine will run less (to recharge the hybrid battery), meaning better fuel economy for you.

Q: how do you turn on a 2010 toyota prius ith push start?
i rented car car in lima, peru and we have problems turning on the car
how do you turn on a 2010 toyota prius with push start

A: I am assuming that you have the smart key in the car since you got into it. It is like some of the others say, put your foot on the brake and push the button. When the ready light COMES ON the car is ready to go. Put it in drive and away you go. The engine does NOT have to be running to drive away.

Q: Would you buy the new 2010 Toyota Prius in it’s 3rd generation?
Is this a good car? What are the list of improvements?

A: I will probably never buy a Prius. The energy and chemicals used to produce and manufacture the batteries are more harmful to the environment than a regular gas car. Over the life span of a Prius and say, a Corolla, the Prius has a larger carbon footprint.

Q: I want to buy a 2010 Toyota Prius (it will be my first car) What do I need to do?
1) How much does it cost per monthly?

2) Will it be a good car for a 17 year old who is going to start his first year of college?

3) Can someone explain to me the percentage things & what a down payment is?

Anything else I should know??

A: 1) This will depend on the model you choose, how much money you put down, the length of the loan and the interest rate. It will cost about $400-$500 monthly with good credit, base model, for 60 months.

2) No…you should get something older until you graduate or get a job after college; especially if you are going to be keeping it at school. My car was vandalized or broken into 3 times in 4 years at school.

3) Not sure what you mean, but assuming you are talking about interest rate and down payment.
Your interest rate on your loan is going to depend on your credit.
Theoretically, the better your credit, the less interest you will have to pay.
If you have poor credit, some lenders will require you put a significant down payment before they will finance you.
The down payment goes directly toward the principle amount that you agreed to buy the car for.
For example, if you buy a Prius for $24,000 and make a down payment of $5,000, then the remaining ($19,000) is what will be financed.
