Q: How do I open my 2010 Prius Trunk?
I just bought a 2010 Prius with the keyless entry. Sometimes I can open the trunk, and sometimes I have to manually unlock it from the inside of the car beforeI can open it. Is there some manual override that I have activated somehow?
A: dont bother if its working then not working go to the dealer there may be something wrong with it
Q: Where do you put your Fast Trak tag on a Prius 2010?
I have a 2010 Prius and wonder if putting the Fast Trak on the bottom left of the windshield is ok. There is a speaker there. Would that be bad?
A: Top left corner is better. The bottom left has the solar sensor and if you cover that the a/c won’t work correctly (I’m assuming that they didn’t move the solar sensor in the 2010).
Q: Is this a good deal for a 2010 Prius?
I don’t want to know the things people want to say about Toyota, I just wanted to know if this was a good deal. My dealer said that I can get a 2010 Toyota Prius for $24,500 including title, license and all taxes. This is before they price my trade-in. Is this a good deal?
A: YES! You’ll be amazed at all the tech that come as standard in the Prius.
Q: What did you actually pay for your 2010 Prius?
We are currently shopping for a Prius, and are looking for a little help on prices. We are thinking about a package 4 Prius, but may do a Package 2.
A: Choose another vehicle like the Ford Fusion Hybrid or Honda Insight. Breaking news – Toyota hit by over 100 Prius brake complaints (link below). The complaints in Japan (and US) involve the new Prius model, and the vehicles were all made in Japan. So much for smugness about Japanese built Toyota’s.
Q: How far can a 2010 prius travel on one tank of gas?
I am considering buying a prius and I was curious how long it can travel on a single tank of gas in a city?
A: The 2010 Prius has a 11.9-gallon gas tank.
You should be able to get about 500 miles on one tank, give or take 50 miles depending on your driving habits.
Q: Why on my 2010 Prius only sometimes do the headlights turn off automatically?
Sometimes I come back and they’ve been on all the time I was gone. Other times, they turn themselves off after I turn off and exit the car after just a few minutes.
A: They are called daytime running lights. I was shocked too when i bought my new 2010 toyota corolla. according to the salesperson, it is a safety feature and you actually can get discounts from insurance companies if you have it. If it is dark outside, they automatically turn on when ur engine is on. If it isnt dark, they turn on then in like 20 seconds they turn off. If you check at the very top of ur dashboard, youll see a sensor that tracks the sunlight amounts. Check ur manual, it explains it. Also if you dont want that feature, you can override it at ur toyota dealership.
Q: How to use solar roofing on 2010 prius?
How do you turn on the solar cooling system when not in the car?
A: From the manual:
The Solar Ventilation System may not operate under the following circumstances due to a lack of power from the solar panel:
Low amount of sunlight
Part of the solar panel is cast in shadow
Part of the solar panel is covered by fallen leaves or dirt
Solar panel is not at a high temperature
Make sure that the POWER switch is in ON or IG-ON mode before turning the solar ventilation switch on. If the solar ventilation switch is turned on while the POWER switch is OFF, the air mode and the status of the air vents will remain unchanged.
Q: Why dose a toyota camry hybrid cost more that prius. you get better gas mileage in the prius (2010 50mpg)?
2010-toyota camry hybrid 34mpg
2010-toyota prius 50mpg
is there really a difference and if so what?
A: What makes you think that price should be determined based on mileage alone? Following that logic, a Prius should cost more than a Ferrari too. (Hint: It doesn’t. You could buy a fleet of eight (or more!) Prius for the price of the cheapest new Ferrari (which gets a whopping 13mpg) that I could find.)
Camry is larger, it’s a sedan (some people prefer that over the Prius hatchback), it has more power (not that anybody driving only on public roads needs it), and the bottom line: Toyota feels that the market will pay more for it, so they price it accordingly.
Q: Can I return my 2010 Prius because of the recall?
I’ve only had it since November 2009. I’m worried about my safety and I have other things I don’t like about it as well. Or can I exchange it? Has anyone done this?
A: You cannot return your Prius……(Dad owns a 2010 Prius)
My dad was in the same position as you, he went to all the dealers and asked if he could return…they all said no, they will not take the car back.
But the smartest thing to do is to just have your software upgraded….
Think about it,
would you rather waste money on purchasing yourself a new car after selling your prius or would you just take 2 hours and take your car to the dealer to have your software upgraded.
I understand that safety comes first……chances are very very rare that your prius would cause this problem…..only about 2% of prius owners had this problem…..
Q: Is it smart to buy a 2010 Toyota Prius?
I’m a first time car buyer in New Orleans, LA.
I’m 22 years old and I was wondering if purchasing the 2010 Toyota Prius would be a good move instead of a Toyota Corolla.
A: Yes it’s smart to buy a 2010 Toyota Prius.
However, it’s not smart to listen to 75% of the answers that you get when you ask Prius questions at Yahoo! Answers. Many people that answer these questions are not knowledgeable about the Prius, and they simply repeat the misinformation that they have heard from other uninformed people.
In no particular order, regarding the answers you’ve received so far…
No, the VW Jetta TDI does not get better mileage. See http://fueleconomy.gov/ for details. So much for common knowledge, DUH.
The Corolla is a better deal only if you are strictly going for low price; the Prius is more expensive but it also has a much higher level of standard equipment. The price difference isn’t so large if you add all the options to the Corolla to get it closer to the Prius standard equipment, and at that point, the amount of city and highway driving you do won’t matter.
Prius vs. Corolla XRS: Nothing to discuss there, that’s just a matter of personal preference.
And once again, the rumor that the 2010 Prius will use Lithium-Ion batteries is simply incorrect. It will be using nickel metal hydride, the same that the Prius has been using since introduction in the 1998 model year (in Japan only). Toyota has been improving the batteries during that time, but they are still NiMH.
Q: Buy a 2010 Prius or wait for an Electric Car?
I am looking to buy a car and really like the Prius. Should I buy the Prius for 24K OTD price or should I buy a less expensive car (such as the Elantra) and wait for the electric car to come out? Is it worthwhile? The electric car seems too good to be true and I am leaning towards just purchasing the Prius now. Thanks… any advice appreciated.
A: The problem is that so far the electric car is just vapourware, unfortunately. I have a 2001 and 2004 Prius and they’ve been great cars: low maintenance, fun to drive, lots of room for four full-sized adults. If you need a car now I wouldn’t hesitate to get a Prius. If you can wait 3-5 years then there may be other options.
The NiMH patent runs out in 2014 after which Chevron-Ovonics will no longer control development and large format batteries will be available–unless they can bribe Congress to extend the patent like the musicians and actors did for copyrights. After that electric cars should come out of the vapourware stage.
Q: Just how good is the new 2010 Toyota Prius? And is it out yet like in the dealerships?
Dad is going to buy the new Toyota Prius that I recommended him because he likes Japanese cars and quietness and comfort. Prius owners, please tell me about your experience with this prized car that gets 50mpg.
A: I have a 2005 Prius and I love it. It is fun to drive and gets me about 45 mph (which is why I bought it). I am a big beautiful woman and I fit very comfortably as does my 6′6″ man friend! I also often carry a child in the backseat in a car seat and he never complains! There are so many extras but the 2010 is just mind blowing w all the extras! I want one! They are available in the dealerships now (as an owner I get updates and just got one 2 days ago that they are available at my dealership).
You can purchase the package that has this cool sensor and steering combo that can practically parallel park itself! I can haul stuff w the seats down in back or I can cover what I am carrying w the shade in back.
It is very, very quiet…lol…once I left the car on for 6 hours while I did something else. I had forgotten to lock it and hadn’t turned it off because I didn’t hear it running! It didn’t use any gas during that time and the battery wasn’t drained either! It has a mechanism built in to the auto-lock so you can’t lock it running though. But the 2010 has a special thingy that allows you to start it from outside the car while locked so that it can warm up or cool off for you! Plus it has a solar powered cooling system that you can set to keep the car from getting hot on hot days.
The only thing I don’t like is the stupid spoiler on the back that limits rear vision and is made of plastic so ppl are tempted to push on it to close the back end and it breaks.
The 2010 though has a back-up camera and better mirrors so you can see all around the car…way cool.
I want one.
Did I say, I want one?
Well, I do.
Q: How hard is it going to be to get a 2010 Toyota Prius?
I’m going to be looking or, hopefully, looking into one of these cars by next year. Is it going to be difficult to obtain one come next year?
A: HARD TO SAY WITH THE SAGGING ECONOMY. WITH GM AND CHRYSLER IN TROUBLE, THE PRIUS MAY VERY WELL GO WAY UP IN SALES!!!! THEY WILL BE QUITE EXPENSIVE, BUT MORE PEOPLE JUST MAY BUY AND FINANCE THEM IN THE FUTURE. AND IN MY EXPERIENCE WITH CARS, TOYOTAS OUTLAST THE GM’S AND CHRYSLERS!!!!ONLY TIME WILL TELL!!!!!
Q: How do you find out your average MPG for a single trip for the 2010 Prius?
A: Divide the Miles you drove by the Gallons of Gas you put in it.
Instant Average MPG.
Of course you need to know exactly how many miles you drove using a Tripmeter or it won’t be accurate.
Q: What’s the Difference between the 2010 Toyota Prius Packages?
I live in Spain and it has three options;
Eco
Advance
Executive
I can’t find it on their website.
A: crap crap and more crap, prius are p.o.s’
