Q: how do i tell if my 2003 bmw 325i has a m54 engine or a m56 engine?
looking at getting a fuel pump installed…big difference in the price. the m54 has a serviceable fuel pump, the m56 you have to replace the whole tank.
A: Go to realoem.com and type in the last seven digits of your VIN. It will tell you exactly which engine is installed on your car, and you can them look up the part number for the correct fuel pump.
FWIW, the M56 was the CA ULEV version of the engine. Replacing the fuel tank is not inconsequential! If it turns out you have this, it might cheaper to retrofit the car with the M54 parts.
Q: will a 2004 bmw m56 secondary air pump work correctly on a 2002 bmw m54?
my girlfriend bought the m56 instead of the m54 pump because she found a good deal. is there any possible way i could get it to work on my car so we arent out all that money?
the only thing different is the little assembly on the top of the pump witch doesnt really connect to anything.
A: Hate to break it to you, but probably not. I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you have an e46 BMW, based on the year and not an e30 (I’m 99.99% sure it’s an e46). From 1999 till about 2006, BMW had 4 different engine styles made, the m54 and m56 being two of them.
From the outside they may look similar, but when digging further, you’ll find things like the igniter coils in completely different formats. So in a nutshell, it will not work and there’s no real way to modify it so that it fits correctly. The good part is, OEM BMW parts sell really well in aftermarket, so you may try listing it on Ebay or Craigslist – in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you got more.

A: There was an accident around J13/J14 but nothing too serious it seems, road was due to be back to normal by midnight

A: just make sure you leave early as all roads leading in out or near manchester are always choc a block at that time of day.
Q: WHY: Can’t you go West onto the M56 from the M53? AND: You can’t go South on the M53 from the West of M53/M56?
If you are travelling from Chester heading onto the M53 and are wanting to go Westbound onto the M56, you can’t. You have to go Eastbound on the M56 and turn round at the next junction and then go Westbound.
Likewise, If you are travelling South on the M53 from the Wirral/Merseyside area and want to go onto the M56 and travel West, you can’t. You have to go east on the M56 and turn round at the next junction to go back West past the M53/M56 junction.
Does anyone know why this motorway junction was made in this way so you can only go Eastbound onto the M56 from the North or South of the M53?
Please tell me, as I’ve always wondered.
You just need to be very familiar with that area to understand what I’m talking about.

Unlike some motorway junctions, you have a choice of East or West or North or South. Not this one, Only East.

It would just help to give you another alternative to travel in those directions mentioned from the M53 to the M56 in case there is congestion or roadworks on the A41 and A5117 also for that matter.

A: It really depends on the artist. They could go through a lot of ink because they might dip the needle every time, or they could use a tiny bit of ink!! It just depends, it’s not going to take a whole bottle of ink or anything!
